Dance Minor
College: College of Arts & Humanities
The Dance Minor provides students with the opportunity to begin or continue their study of dance while pursuing a degree in another discipline. Students explore a variety of dance techniques, acquire skills for health and wellness, and examine the connections between dance and other performing arts.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Articulate the social and cultural role of dance;
- Identify major artists, movements, and styles that define the development of dance;
- Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of dance techniques;
- Create and execute choreography;
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively when working with others to complete projects;
- Evaluate the connections between dance and other performing arts;
- Apply knowledge in wellness to the practice of dance.

University Requirements for Minors
Course work in the minor must be completed with the minimum GPA as specified by the department or program under which the minor falls, usually a 2.00 on a 4.00 scale, but higher in some programs. Transfer students must attain the minimum specified GPA on a combination of transfer credits accepted toward the minor and credits attempted at UW-Parkside.
At least half of the course work required for a minor must be completed at UW-Parkside.
